  • Backburner and Spawner

I finally got Back-burner to work! I gave up trying years ago, but I thought I would give it a try last week, and it worked! Is there any benefits in using V-Ray Spawner over Back-burner and can you use the together, and if so, is it faster?

My understanding us Back-burner will help you chop up large images to save on ram, but isn't any faster. Is this true?

I use back burner and DR together all the time. You can chop up images via BackBurner to save RAM but I have personally had mixed results (some renders crapped out and the split sections disappeared) - but that is apparently not common.

I primarily use them together so that I can fire off a render from my workstation and let the other nodes render away using DR. If I feel like adding my workstation I can just turn on the Vrayspawner on it, and the render will pick it up and add it. When I want to use my machine again I just kill the spawner and things tick along without it. It's really handy for that.
