I think an "Idiot" proof help section for this in spot3d would be very advantagous. I dont see why anyone with more than a couple of machines would not see this as a time saver, especially as a lot of the info would be transferable for use with other plugins.

An amazing solution would be to have the installer have an option for a shared install location.

I'd see this as a sooner rather than later request. I can see a number of ways people could really mess their machines up if they do it wrong!!

Yes, it's on the "to do" list to write a section on this in the help index. However, as you say, it's easy to mess things up

Beware, updating the path environment variable is fine, as long as you're only working with ONLY ONE 3dsMax version!
Another thing that is bothering me right now is: where is the information about the license server(s) stored? I would like to simply execute a .reg key or copy a .ini file on startup if i change anything in there instead of going throug all the nodes by hand.

        Thanks a lot,
        Michael

          The vrlclient.xml can be found here C:\Program Files\Common File\ChaosGroup

Also you can set a path to the vrlclient.xml file with this windows environment: VRAY_AUTH_CLIENT_FILE_PATH
