it depends what you got I think - for solid color surfaces w/ out much detail or not very detailed textures I think adaptive AA works fine...but for detailed textures/ I think you wanna use fixed.....also I think when you use reflective metals and glossies in general you wanna stay fixed AA in animations.....
Just went through a whole thing with AA and ended up sticking with Fixed
@4 but Vlado recommended tweaking the QMC settings to clean it up.
Not fun thus far but appears to be addressing the issue.

If you have little grainy textures like grass you should use min 1 max 2 or
min 2 max 3. If your textures are smooth you can use min 0 max 2 and the result is OK. Everything depend on the complexity of your textures
