  • "Standard" vs "Vray" Maps in Slate Editor...

I'm wondering why in the Max 2012 slate editor, when you right click to add a map, some maps (such as VrayHDRI and VrayEdgeTex) are under standard, meanwhile others are under Vray (such as VrayDirt or VraySky)..? Seems like they should all be under Vray. Is there a reason for this...? Just curious...

By default, the material browser groups the maps based on what renderer they are compatible with; since some of the V-Ray maps are compatible with any renderer that supports the 3ds Max API (e.g. the scanline renderer), they appear under the "Standard" section. It's on the "to do" list to group them in one place. This is only possible for 3ds Max 2012 and later though.

    Best regards,

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the explanation Vlado.
