  • Q 2of3: rendering fields

for creating content for dvd do i need to render out fields? does that work with vray?

is there a tut what i've got to care about?

i rendered images for a dvd some month ago but without fields and had some troubles with flickering on that dvd. at that time a friend was using avid express to import and cut the film...

    thanks for any ideas.

    hi nlo,

afaik if you set the correct flag within your dvd authoring program/mpeg encoder (for video content being progressive), the dvd player will generate fields itself when needed

so you dont have to render fields if you are producing for dvd only

which is good since they tend to flicker if you have stuctures in your image that are <= one pixel (will display in only one of the two fields - causing the flicker)
sometimes vertically blurring the offending area by 1/2 pixel helps in those cases
