Dual processor speed increase?

Hi,

we may have a little project comming up that needs some horsepower thrown at it...what we are wondering as the deadline is tight is wether (hyperthreading aside) the dual will gove us close to 2x the speed in vray over a single processor.

With VIZ/MAx only I'd be more xonservative, but VRay involved, I'd risk pushing a bit further 80%, perhaps 90 or even 95% I see processors always at 100% usage once scene preparation, both during Imap and when rendering.

Experience here is a Dual MP 2000+ is twice as fast as a Single XP 1900+

Provided you have enough RAM, you can interactively work using one processor while have a render session on the other.

yeah, I have the same experience as far as dual athlons goes....
I also run a dual Xeon @ 2.4ghz w 1gb of ram at work, and it's actually slower then my dual athlon 1900+ w/ 2 gibs of RAM at home - very strange......you'd think the dual xeons would be faster at rendertime but not....
