First and foremost, who here has played with VrayVectorDisplBake? Has anybody used it is production?
I'm very surprised how little documentation and talk there is about it. The most useful stuff i've found is on Spot3D as well as a handfull of threads with basic info here. I have taken that information and have learned how to generate and utilize still frame vector displacement images, but now I am interested in animating my displacement maps.
However the Render To Texture dialog will not seem to render a correct sequence. Even though the Render Setup options are set to range and the Render to Texture process actually DOES appear to go through and attempt to render all the frames, the VrayVectorDisplBake does not seem to update along the way. Meaning all returned images turn out identical to frame 0.
I have had mixed results in getting it to generate a vector displacement map based on any frame other than 0. Upon further investigation, it seems as though either the VrayVectorDisplBake or Render To Texture dialog depend on de-selecting and re-selecting the geometry in order for it to grab the current state of the high-res mesh? Simply closing and re-opening the dialog doesn't always work either. It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, but maybe I am missing something. Like I said, my Time Options are of course set to render a range of frames.
My colleagues and I are working on a script that will help bake a sequence properly, but hopefully there is a simpler way to force the update from frame to frame during a normal bake sequence.
Anyway, just hoping to shed some more light on the subject and curious what you guys have to say.
Thanks!
