    I might be off there, but isn't Embree just a bpt implementation ? I mean VRay is a highly optimized raytracer and pathtracer already isnt it ?

      I'm not techy enough to understand it all, but they were talking about some assembly code to make it quicker, which may or may not be used in Vray already.

        Nope, no assembly there, just very optimized raycasting code. Unfortunately raycasting is just one part of the whole thing - shading takes a significant amount of time too.
