    Run this code....
    for i = 1 to 24 do meditmaterials[i] = VrayMtl()

    then save you max scene as maxstart.max
    Maxscript made easy....

      Works fine, thanks!

      But I have a vague memory of a setting somewhere that does this, but I can´t find it....

        i think you are lookingfor the custom ui and defaults switcher, where you can choose "max.vray" as your default ui scheme.

          In your "Defaults" folder. You have a default material library called "Medit.mat" per scheme.
          If you did not chamge anything, "MAX" is your scheme.
          So, in my case, my default material library file is in "C:\Apps64\Autodesk\3ds Max 2012\Defaults\MAX\Medit.mat"

          If you save any material in the file, it will show up as a default material.
