  • Thinkbox Deadline & Vray

I'm new to Deadline and after spending a day messing with it only to discover it doesn't support the VFB I'm looking for some tips so I can avoid any obvious incompatibility issues that I'm going to run into. I've also discovered that it doesn't seem to support network distributed rendering, or at least I can't get it to work. Don't get me wrong Deadline is way better than Backburner but it does have some holes in it.

im rendering with deadline and vfb as well as dr right this moment. For the vfb, you need to modify a specific config file, since a new introduction to vray render history message, deadline is blocking it. You can email Thinkbox support and they will help you with that. Regarding the DR, it just seems to work for me no problem.

Strange, I've been talking to Thinkboxes technical support and they tell me you can't use VFB with Tile rendering and you can't do network distributed rendering. Maybe I'm not giving it the proper name, what I mean is that with Backburner I used to be able to submit a job to my workstation leaving the distributed rendering option turned on. When my workstation received the job it would begin rendering along with 10 of my render nodes. This was advantageous because I didn't need to pre-render the IR & LC maps, so far when I've tried to do this with Deadline only my workstation will render the job.

I figured it out with the help of their tech support, basically you have to enable "Force Workstation Mode" in order to get it to work. Thanks for the help
