  • Stereoscopic help!

Hi all, although I am not new to Vray I am new to the steroscopic scene. I have an existing client demanding it now so I'm forced to deal with it. I apologize in advanced for what may seem like stupid questions. I have researched the topic a bit and understand the differences between anaglyph and polarization. I'm thinking I need to go with polarization. My client wants to buy a 3d tv at Costco and play it at a tradeshow. The glasses they want to use are the cardboard ones because they plan on sending them out beforehand. It's a way to lure them to their booth. It seems like going with circular polarization may be the way to go, I think. So here are a couple questions:

1- Can Vray create stereoscopic animations for circular polarized glasses?
2- Is it the "SidebySide" frames that are needed for creating polarized animations?
3- What do I do once I have my frames rendered? Can I use After Effects to make my movie? Will it be a Quicktime format?
4- Do I need to author my DVD/Bluray disk using special software? I'm currently using Adobe Encore for burning Blurays.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated due to the sensitivity of the timeline.

    Best,
    Andrius

    1) jes, doesnt matter what stereo format it is
    2) polarized glasses only work with REAL D technology, the 3d tvs all run shutter glass (most all of them), that means its an electronic glass costs 60bucks a piece, and it turns one eye on and off at 60 hz... im sure he wont be sending these anywhere
there are not many polarized tvs on the market, ive seen some from sony at exhibtions, but not at costco
3)u can put them in side by side format, theres lots of information, most blurays take the squished format
    4) if u want to create a real bluray with the real 3d format, ull have to ask sony for a 100,000 dollar license for their software! there is one other company, and they take around 5thousand dollars, to make a 3d bluray, the only way u can do it is burn a side by side squished format on disc and tvs will read that and unsquish it

    goodluck

I think you can use a 2 headed graphics card to 2 projectors with polarized filters over the lenses
