  • Network Render set up Basics Please ?

Hi I have searched but have not found the answer, so i hope you don't mind me asking .

I have installed Max 2012 on the machine I am going use as part of a render farm.
I have 1 main machine for work, and other to used with this as a rendercore to finish the final renders.

    I installed Max 2102.
    With that back burner
I have installed Vray 2 as a slave as requested.

I now start up max and the activate button comes up as it has run out of the 30 day period.
( i have a full licences ) for max and vray.

What do I do to get the render farm set up Please.

    Thank you

if you mean you wish to use this machine as render slave through back burner you do not need to start max. You start back burner server on that machine and on your machine you start manager. Once they communicate you send a job from your workstation with "network rendering" checked and the render machine will start rendering, you should see it in the backburner monitor.
You can alternatively use the render machine as a vray DR which a lot of people prefer. You need to start vray spawner in order for DR to be registered. In both cases you don't need to start max or worry about second license.

Thank you , I want to use the other machine as a render slave ie use the gpu to render on to the main machine where the model is.
Also I can't start max as it now wants to be activated.
So how do I start max in this situation?

On Slave u dont start max.

If u going to use backburner u need to start Server on slave.

Then when u submit job from ur main workstation the server will start 3ds max in non trial version allowing you to render.

As u submit job u can also tick up DR mode so that the 1st slave that start render will also use other slaves in DR mode.

Learn abut backburner a lil bit - its very easy software...
