  • Exclude workstation from DR

I have searched high and low for an answer to this with no luck, so I apologize if this has already been discussed. Is there a way to exclude the machine I am running max on from DR? I have tried adding it to the server list and un-checking it but it still kicks in. Thanks in advance!

the master computer always renders. best way is to sent it to one other computer through backburner with DR set to all the other computers except the workstation. this way the one computer you sent it to on BB will become the master computer with the other selected ones as DR slaves. and if my license memory serves me right BB doesnt take up the use of your license so you will be able to still use your workstation.

Hey Elf, I tried this (I'm using DR with render to texture BTW), and I may need to just try it again but the net job didn't pick up my other render node, just the one I subbed to. I had DR on with both servers selected and submitted to one of the machines, excluding my main workstation. Is this the correct way?

You might need to enable the option to save the list of DR machines with the 3ds Max scene, in the V-Ray DR settings dialog.

        Best regards,
