  • Vray1.5 opens Vray2.10 correctly?

    Hello,

    Doubt is simple.

I have created a quite complex scene with vray 2.10.
If someone opens it (but has vray 1.5 instead), will everything still work fine for him?
    What situations might occur?

Just asking because I have to be absolutely sure my scene works for others (1.5) and I have no idea.
    Hope someone can help.

    Thanks in advance,

I've done this recently and all that happens is that newer textures and features from vray 2 will show up as missing - for example I used the distance tex map in one material and when I opened the scene on vray 1.5 sp4a it gave me an error that the plugin was missing and just listed the map as a missing map type in the vray material. It might not be exactly the same, but it's definitely good enough to open and work with, especially if you're mainly using quite standard stuff in vray.

Yeh Ive used all standard things 1.5 also has. No vray env fog or anything.

Problem is that Turbo Squid doesnt agree. They say it wont work, that it needs to be converted - zero problems when opening.

Anyway, thanks joconnell, i will have to downgrade and see for myself.

      Cheers

Yes, that is the main version! Thanks man, hope you enjoy it.

Talked to Turbo Squid and they will convert 2.10 to any other vray version, for free, to any customer that requests (after buying).

          Cheers
