  • DR Prepass PrePass Question?

I have a question can i let one computer generate the PrePasses (IM) ans as soon as it finished with that distribute it the other machines? I have a p4 2.6 and a P3 600 running and i dont want to waste time letting the slow one calculate the same thing, any ideas?

set it to render, then stop it as it starts after the prepass, save the irmap out and then start it again loading in the irmap instead of recalculating....or use bucket mode.

      But now this happens...

Once I saved the irradiance map and testarted the render with DR it seems that the image turns out darker, any idea aboiut that ?

DR doesn't use the default max lightsource, but rendering in max will use this unless you specifically disable it. That's why it looks different.

You gotta love this forum. I just had this exact question, and here's the answer!!!

Bucket mode seems to be a straightforward way to better distribute the job when you have machines on the network that are not evenly matched in speed. In rendering the VRay sample file ex_winosi.max, it took 2:06 in single frame mode but only 1:28 in bucket mode.

Now I know how not to have slower machines waste their CPU cycles for nothing!
