  • Reflection Matte

I've got a really simple question, I'm sure someone has to have run into this before, but how do you render a reflection pass in vray? Do matte objects work differently when using HDRI and GI with reflections, shadows seem to work fine, but no reflections

    Thanks!

If your using a vray material wrapper to do your matte material i suggest puttint a vray material in the empty material slot. this will a: control color of the GI comming off of the matte. and if you turn on reflections it will also lend reflections to the matte. i suggest though putting a black color in the environment of that vray material. its very fussy though. the reflections are cut out in the alpha

hmm... well i'll give it a shot, i might just set local environ mats to cut down the reflection coming in off the hdr mat and comp together the other elements, might give a little more control.

      thx!!!

apparently you can turn off visible to camera under an objects properties and it works, haven't tried making the affected object a matte tho...
