  • sharing illum maps and backburner

I've been thinking about how I can speed up the rendering across my network.

Is there any way, when rendering over backburner to share the illum map when using "incremental add to map"?

This way all CPUs will have the same illum map and not there own interpretations + you can also slightly bring down the GI presets and speed up the rendering.

or do I have to produce a single illum map with one machine first then share/reuse it between CPUs?

Is there anywhere I can find out more info regarding illum maps and backburner?

As it is now the only solution is to render it on one machine and then share it, One method to make it a bit less painfull is to render a imap with low settings , save it ( or just copy and rename any imap)up your gi settings, set the imap calc to save to that map and send to one machine with backburner, then you can submit the animation with that map in the use saved map slot, when you submit it to backburner set a dependency to the imap calc job and it will start only after the calc is finished.

      Thanks RErender

      I'll try that.

Have you had a go at using the merge function in "IMapViewer" to merge the pre calc'd Imaps from multiple machines to make a more detailed iMap?
