  • How to learn to make vray materials

    hi all,

Could someone give some resorces links on how to learn how to make vray materials.
I used to use sigershader/ but due to sys reinstalling i have lost the liceinse.
No reply from siger. So not able to use it anymore.
So have decided not to be dependent on third party software for vray materials,
    and learn it myself.

    Thanks
    alot.

Cecofuli's book is a great resource. Grab some materials from vraymaterials.de and reverse engineer them. I personally hate being told this one (but only because there is a never ending list of things like this): but you really do just need to throw some time at it. There is no substitute for experience and playing around, but use the forums and the references mentioned (and any others that come up) to help overcome any specific hurdles.

My recommendation, beyond that, is to pick a few materials that you want to create (just pick some at random if necessary) and just work away at them till you get them right. Then try a few more. It's really the only way

You can look up various materials IOR's and reflectance values and get a good base before you start tweaking anisotropy or refraction. Usually works out pretty well....
