  • Affect All Channels

I am trying to understand Affect All Channels. From another thread it seems that I should be able to get selection masks from objects seen in mirrors and through glass. I have used PSD Manager 2.0 for all selection masks (selection layers in Photoshop) in the past and have recently upgraded to 3.0.

The first attached image below shows my scene; 20 boxes all with a different Effect ID assigned, a mirror behind and glass in front, also with a different Effect ID.

The second image shows my material set up and the third shows my attempt at getting selection layers using render elements (which I'm not sure I know how to use btw).

Would some one be willing to help me with this? Thanks.

        Hello,

With the precious suggestion of Daniel Schmidt, I ended using MultiMatte RE to output mattes for objects behind glass ... and it works perfectly ! so a little more patience, when new PSDM is out - it should be very very close now.
FYI, and I think Daniel already told that somewhere in these forums, new PSDM automatically splits MultiMatte RE on separated layers to make selections even easier big up to Dan, who did an amazing job on this new version again !

        Regards.

I'm not sure what this means. I have PSDM 3.0. Is there a newer version I need? Given my first post, does this info solve my issue? Sorry, I'm just not very technically savvy. - Craig

Yes, sorry - new PSDM v3.1 is at the corner, with a full VRay VFB support (REs handling). I'm beta tester for PSDM, that's why I did some bad teasing
That being said, you can try using multimatte RE to output your object IDs. One of the benefits the new PSDM version will bring is that automatic splitting of the MultiMatte RE on separated layers, but I think you can still try with MultiMatte RE alone for now, just to check

              Regards.
