  • Flythrough animation: use camera path and incremental add

I've got a fairly complex interior scene with big camera movement moving through several spaces.
Currently using IM+LC with 'use camera path' for both and rendering single frame to generate the GI solution as prepass.

For the lightcache i'm using 5000 subdivs to compensate for the big movement, but I understand for irradiance map there's not a really good solution.
But rendering irradiance map for every 20 frames would calculate too long.

Would it be a good idea to use the single frame irradiance map with 'use camera path' as base and use incremental add to current map for every 50 frames (without 'use camera path') or so?

Followup: in this case it worked ok, using camera path seems to have prevented some small spots to be lacking irradiance map data, while the incremental add added detail where needed without needing too many frames to calculate.

A bit of luck with the scene i guess, when only using camera path on first frame there would be black spots without any irradiance data in certain areas.

      Thanks for sharing this.
Normally the "use camera path" works perfect.
But i have a large scene where it lacked detail at the end.
The camera dives through a cloud layer, flys along the ground to show several landmarks
and is coming to a stop in front of the building i want to show.

I also got those low quality irradiance map errors at the end.
I tried to use high animation preset with lots of h.subdivs but the errors got only more visible.

I am going to try that incremental add trick for the last frame,
i always thought you where supposed to leave that flythrough button on,
even during rendering the saved map.
      Reflect, repent and reboot.
      Order shall return.
