  • Vray Dome and possition

    Heya

I run in to some problem.

I have a HDRi that was taken from 1.5m height. Now if I plug that in Dome light and render it, my horizon based on HDRI will be 1.5m above my 3D horizon. Since moving dome anywhere in the scene wont work since its fixed to 0/0/0 or camera position(dunno tbh) I cant offset it back to -1.5m to level my 3D horizon with HDRI horizon. Is there a way to fix it maybe ? I'm thinking now that I could possibly move all my scene object to be +1.5m but that is very difficult process...

    Thanks, bye.

Why? You should be able to adjust the offset of the hdri, it wont be a perfect match but should get pretty close.

The dome light is infinitely away and only depends on a ray's direction, not its origin, so there is no offset to adjust. With that said, the VRayDomeEnv texture might do what you need: http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...ht=vraydomeenv

        Heya

Mmmm thats very interesting ! Let me get the mechanics straight tho. I have 1 sphere for standard reflection and 1 plane for floor reflection. The floor can be lowered using Z radius, but sphere cant be push up as far as I can see right? Now this does generate better results because floor looks more realistic but at horizon level nothing will match since I have to push the sphere up instead of floor.

Is there any chance to do quick tweak and give us second set of controlers for sphere maybe?

Also the round connection between horizon and sphere is nice... as I can read from other topic.

Also where can I request Vray rt compatible version - will it work with nightlies?

Also I still have problem with HDRI matte shadows giving reflection in object... Click image for larger version

Yes, for the next release we will add the "Matte for secondary rays" option.
