  • Render Slave license policy difference ?

    Hi,

As I know, we can use 10 slaves for DR and unlimited slaves for Backburner with a license of V-Ray

Chaos Group products are licensed per machine and with one V-Ray for 3ds Max license you can start and use V-Ray GUI and tools inside one 3ds Max platform, start one local render job, start Network rendering with unlimited render slaves using “3dsmaxcmd.exe” or job manager like Backburner, start up to 10 slaves for Distributed rendering using V-Ray DR spawner."
But recently, I saw something different sentence in Chaos group Korean homepage (http://www.chaosgroup.com/kr/2/vray.html).

According to them, (I translate to english)

[...., start Newtork rendering with 5 render slave using "3dsmaxcmd.exe" or job manager like Backburner, start up to 5 laves for Distributed rendering using V-Ray spawner.]

    Is that right?

    - Unlimited slaves using Backburner VS 5 slaves using Backburner
    - 10 slaves using DR spawner VS 5 slaves using DR spawner

Are there any difference between worldwide and korean local policy ?

    If it's true, why ?

    thanks,
    JH

I believe this was a part of the contract with the Korean distributor specifically, but I'll let the sales guys explain better.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

            Hello,

            Yes, its true.
Chaos Group adopted and follows different Sales and Licensing Policies for different regions/countries due to market specifications in particular regions/countries.
Please note: for Korea there are other Software and Hardware vendors that adopted and follow different from world wide Sales and Licensing Policies.

            Sincerely yours,

It's not satisfactory answer what expected, but I understand.
At next version (maybe v3), I hope more fair and same policy and license.

              Best regards,
              JH

One restriction of Korea local policy (5 network render slave ) has removed.
We can use unlimited network render slave using backburner like global policy.
Thank you for the effort, guys.

Now another local policy (5 DR) has remained to solve.
