  • Mapping VraySun with an HDRI?

I'm noticing a pretty big improvement in my renders with I map vraylights with hdri image (of a studio light). It seem the outer range of the specular fall off looks much nicer and it picks up a hint of color from the fall off zone of the hdri image.

Short version: the specular highlights look much better.

So that got me thinking... would there be a way to map an HDRI image of the sun to the vraysun? (Hopefuly this would also result in better specular highlights.)

Based on the response I'm thinking this idea is either way brilliant and out ahead of everyone else or completely stupid.

You could just use a dome light with the spherical HDRI in question - if it captures the sun properly, there would be no need for a V-Ray sun light at all.

      Best regards,

I laughed out loud. Best to think you're just way ahead of everyone.
