  • AA in animation

i´ve heard that a fixed rate should be better for animations than adaptiv subdivision. normaly is use 1/3 for it, bu it´s very slow. what fixed rate is the best ? is 2 enough or must it be 3 or even 4 ?

i used it once....i think 3 is good enough....for animation...

I think very much depend on what you are going to render, for example if you are rendering grass and so, then fixed rate, but for example an interior, walls, some object, waste of time I think. Adaptive is good enough.

I always use 0,2 for final production renders.

On animation you should consider using some kind of filters too. It depend how fast your camera moves and how many frames you render per sec.
I once used the video filter on an animation of a interior. The stills looked blurry, but the video was very clear and without flickering. It really depend on the speed of the camera.
A nother trick ist to use Motion blur or DOF in post. It can save your rendering.
I prefer rendering bigger else then using to much AA. A good scaling down can help you on the hardest edges. Anyhow I use AS with 1/3 and rand on, most time.
