  • How much ram vray needs with photon techniques?

I work with 756 mb on my pc and when with 3 lights I reach 15000 subd, I get an error message "the program has run out of memory:...and the program will be closed"

is 15000 photns (subdivision in system panel in rollout rendering) the maximum limit for all the light in the scene?
Or the crash depends on the ram that I've installed on my pc?

I hope that someopne will reply to me

    bye and thanks in advance

    15000 subdivisions are 225000000 photons!
    too many photons, i think

yeah but anyway, with the max photons settings you can limit the number of photons stored. So you can shoot a lots of photon and get detail, but it will take not too much memory.

I still don't get how photons should work. But 15.000 and three lights... MAN!
i usually put around 4000-6000 for a direct light that simulates the sun
and 1000-2000 for area lights on windows.
But i dont touch max photons, only search distance and that other
        max density

          thanks

          thanks

I was meaning that 15000 photons in total (adding all subdivisions lights)!!!

I noticed that in all tutorial on photons technique the maximum number of photons (for all lights in the scene) is totally 15000 even if the user has a lot of ram in his system!!!

When I reach a totally of 15000 or a little less number of subdivisions with my system it crash!!

          Bye and thanks in advance
