  • One bump map to go over blend materials

Is there a way to create one bump map to cover the whole blend material. In Vray for Maya there is a Bump shader that you can drop the blend shader into but I cannot find anything similar in Max?

    Any help much appreciated

    Thanks

    Will.

I guess you can't, you'll have to plug the bump map in every material separately.

In the slate material editor you can connect one map to the bump of each material in the blend. It's not perfect but it should only take a few seconds to set-up.

If the materials already have a bump map applied & you want an additional bump applied to all of them (on top of their own) then it's a little tricker but you can use a VRayCompTex to achieved this.

Let me know if you need any more info, or if I've completely misunderstood what you're trying to achieve

Cheers for the replies chaps. I'm guessing this thread needs moving to the wishlist then! I always thought Vray for Max would be the most up to date version of Vray.

browsing the maya forums I often find new features which I'd like to have in max too.. so I guess it's the other way round

I'm no expert but I think a lot of the different features between the Max & Maya versions of V-Ray are dependant on how each package natively handle things.

The Utility Material from the Blur Beta pack of Max plugins does this. At the moment the link is down but, last I checked they do STILL, after all these years, update them with every new version of Max.
