  • Vray Env Fog 10Km/10000m limit?

    Hi,

Just getting back into vray after a while - is there any way of getting around the arbitrary distance limit in Vray, or to just change the overall density of the fog if I want a light mist.

Is the proper way to put something like a noise map with the same colour to lower the density? It bumps up the render time when I try that, so I wondered if I'm doing it totally wrong.

    Thanks,

    Steve

You can set whatever values you like from MaxScript.

    Nope.

If you put a texture, V-Ray switches to raymarching rather than uniform sampling of the fog; this tends to be slower.

      Hi,

Thanks - thought it might have been hard-coded.

I don't really get why limits are set for a lot of these things in the UI generally - I can understand it for things which might kill the scene, like iterations on geometry.

      Cheers

The 3ds Max API requires limits to be specified for each parameter.
