vraylightmaterial vs vraylightmesh

Is there a difference between the 2 when using direct illumination for vraylightmaterial ?

In terms of rendering, no. However the mesh light has more options and it is also treated as an actual light by 3ds Max (f.e. it can be hidden by category etc).
