  • What isn the wavelenght that vray is using to calculate refraction/reflection index..

    Heya

Like topic said, I want to check my refraction indexes if I have them accurate.

    Thanks ciao.

I believe it's the green one, but I have to check for certain.

Umhhh any chance to get a coresponding number? Im trying few physics websites they ask me for some details to calculate correct IOR for materials...

not a clue.. in the past ive just used 575 nm, as its about halfway up the visible spectrum, just to get an idea of the kind of vaues i need.. no idea if this is a good idea or not, but to be honest ive never been super precise about correct values. if it looks good, its right kinda thing.

                Heya

Bump still need the value dear chaos team !

As to 575 I know Maxwell runs at 0.508 wavelength...

For V-Ray, this seems to be 0.5892; this only matters for dispersion though.

                    What?

This thread just went totally over my head. I didn't know VRay used wavelengths in its calculations?

There are a few places where we use spectral data; one is where we compute the colors for the VRaySun/VRaySky system (or when you use the "temperature" spinner of lights); the other is when computing dispersion.
