  • Vray RT Problems

Hey guys am running the latest version of vray, i set my RT up with my video card, but currently using CPU, but i dont get any feedback from rt it stays black, its recognizing that am changing settings but nothing shows up. It goes through the scene builds it and nothing. The only message i get is when changing a light setting saying 'Non-physical 'Invisible' enabled for light' any ideas?

Do you get any warnings or errors in the V-Ray RT render server window?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

i actually just restarted max and it works correctly weird.... is there an option to use the vray buffer for R.T? Also does gamma not work for r.t? Thanks vlado!

Currently the V-Ray VFB is only available when rendering with V-Ray RT in production mode, but not as ActiveShade. Gamma should work fine.

          Best regards,

well whats happening for me is when i render R.T in production mode and hit render, it goes through one render and completes. It doesn't iterate through it. So i also tryed instead of production i tryed interative, but that also does the same.. As far as gamma goes it works good when i use the frame buffer because i use the srgb check box, but when am using R.T as active shade its showing my render in linear space.

You mean it renders just one frame? What is the max. samples per pixel?

Ok, can you get me more details how to reproduce that (with a simple scene, if you have one)?

              Best regards,
              Vlado

yea i basically renders one frame, ray bundle size 64 and rays per pixel 4, i found out why it looks different in R.T and a regular render, its because my exposure buttone was checked on my physical camera. Would you have to keep that unchecked?

Is this for any scene or a particular one (the one frame rendering)?

About the camera exposure, this should work fine as far as I know - if you have a case where it doesn't it would be best to send us a scene to vray@chaosgroup.com to see what's wrong.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

just sent an email vlado, i really appreciate the help, as for the one frame rendering it seems to be for every scene.

                      Hi Kris,
We found in your scene, that you are using "Use 32-bit frame buffer" option in V-Ray settings roll-out.
To achieve the result that you are expecting (Active shade render in sRGB color space) you have to keep this option "off".
Useful information about it could be found at: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/rt100/render_3dsmax.htm
