Yes it's difficult but that was the initial question of long john, so that's why I was testing this situation.

I know this was about skylight only, but to Long John, photon mapping shouldn't be that hard. This one was done with three photon test renderings (and photon test renderings are very fast) I calculated the photon map with a Vray light, save the map. Then make the Vray light a skylight portal and render the scene...

          Hi

Back again to our aim to compare two of the best renderers ever build.

After this thread we´ve made once again a comparison of Vray and Brazil.

Result: Brazil seems to be optimiszed to make highend detailed images right from the beginning.

Vray seems to be optimiszed to produce images a little bit worse, but much much faster.

by tweaking vray we found it possible to reach exactly the same Quality in details as in Brazil. Well, antialiasing in vray seems to be better, faster.

we soon will post here some images of a ship we rendered with skylight only and white material in both, vray and brazil. "Geddert who also works at lichtecht.com " wants to make a small tutorial. i am not sure if he will post it in this thread ore in the tutorial section.

only thing we didnt test yet, is if vray with equal quality in rendering is as fast as Brazil ore slower. also, we don´t know brazil as good as vray, so maybe someone who knows brazil very good will be able to make it much faster than we did with equal quality.

result: yes, of course you realy can get the same quality with vray, also in the smalest details of your immage.
