  • Light objects only in reflections

I want to create an object light that can be seen in my reflective objects and doesn't emit any kind of light or shadow over my scene.

I've already try a selfilluminated mateiral with an output map in difuse slot map. I've already try to check the visible to camera option in onbject properties and my object remains casting gi shadow and light.

Is there any way to produce this effect?

Setting generate GI to zero in either with a WrapperMtl or with the object properties in the system roll-out, should do it.

Yes, I think the only way around that is to calc the irmap with the object hidden, save the solution and then unhide the object and render with the saved map. I have not tried it though

            That seems a bit complicated.

Im looking for a way to create a relfection enviroment like a hdri using only light objects. I want that enviroment be saw only in relfections.

            Sorry for my english.

Yes I see, it is horrible how much work this 3d stuff can be, layers, compositions, render passes and six clicks instead of one... It's a wonder we all survive. :P

vraylight would do the trick if you could make it invisible to camera(no way , you can set as high multiplier as you want, exclude illum/shadow casting, and done. This way will no illumination/shadowcasting occur, however you'll have a brigh 'object' Unfourtunately It has to visible. Maybe Vlado could do a little changes that in can not be visible for the camera.

I think it is a limitation that if something is visible to reflection/refraction it will be visible to GI and always cast a shadow, no way arround it I think, except to take a few extra steps.

losbellos, that would be great. That could work the same if the vraylight is out of camera, dont you think?
