I'm just playing with the displacement modifier learning how to do decent grass. I was just wondering if it's possible to tile the bitmap used to create the displacement, like you can do with a UVW map?

Can you tile using the displacement modifier?

Yes you can. Same results (as far as I know) with moderate use.
You'll notice differences in memory consumption by tiling into the material vs tiling UVs via the UVmap modifier.
... of topic ...
Ha ! Stretching a lot (A LOT!!) the bitmap then tiling the UVs will give very strange results and/or memory savings too...
That's quite useless now... But that was fun to try.

It's all 3dsmax's features.
Material editor
At the top of the bitmap category, you'll notice the "tiling" entries...
Modifiers
Apply an UVWmap on the object you want to displace.
And notice the same "tiling" entries...
There's nothing to do with the disp modifier to tile bitmaps. It will use the UVs coordinates you gave him.

hello, i dont know if you are talking about this , but when i need a diferent tile to my vraydisplacement map, i only need to add one more uvw map, and put it in another chanel, remember that you need to set up displacement chanel the same than your secound uvw map.natal - brazil
