  • Texture Baking - Self Illumination Option Missing

    Hi

I am trying to follow the VRay Texture Baking tutorial but cannot find the Self Illumination option for the Target Map Slot.

    http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/200R...king_part1.htm

Does anyone know which one of the available options to use ?

    Thanks

Can you post a screenshot of your RTT settings? The target slot options depend on what kind of material you have selected in the "Baked Material" section.

      Hi Vlado

Thanks for getting back to me.

Also, when I render the textures they render correctly in the frame buffer but save as black.

      Thanks

I have changed the Baked Material to VRayLightMtl and changed the Target Map Slot to LightColor.

The maps are rendering in Max correctly but save as flat black images.

I can send you the file if that might help ?

When the render had finished, I cloned the render viewport and saved those out and now I can see the unwrapped textures. So, I am not sure why the Render To Texture process is saving them out as black images.

For the black textures, disable the V-Ray VFB if it is on, changing the file format might also help (I know that there have been issues with some file formats).

I have tried disabling the VRay Frame Buffer and saving as different file types but the unwrapped texture maps still come out black.

Then I will need a scene or a way to reproduce this here, as it generally works fine... if you like, you can send it to vlado@chaosgroup.com

Vlado, I have sent the max file. I am wondering something else, can texture baking handle medium sized scenes ?

                Thanks

So you need to use the VRayXXXXX bake elements, i.e. VRayCompleteMap, not the standard ones (CompleteMap etc).

About the "medium sized scenes" I did not understand this one. From the point of view of V-Ray, texture baking is just like a normal render.

                  Best regards,
