please rerender, if you could be more clear, because i didnt get it, and this is a old doubt mine too, because if we put a regular max amterial into difuse slot and control reflection refraction by colours amunt we have the same effect , isnt is? i am really confused
yes natty, so i think i didnt understand the question, i understand what you said, but i was talking about the diference in control reflection in two case, they both with vray materials: first one using colour amount, adn secound one puting a map into reflection slot. This was my doubt
If you use a color for reflection, then white is 100% reflective and black is 0% reflective. If you use a map, the colors in that map will control the reflection. So if you use a checker map, the black areas will be non reflective and the white will be 100% reflective. If you would use a falloff map (default settings), the sides of the object facing towards you will be not very reflective, and the sides facing more and more away from you will be more and more reflective (because the falloff will be white on the polygons facing away, and it will be black an the polygons facing towards you---->this is fresnell!!)
