  • Can someone explain me what is "camera correction"

I have read serval posts talking about "camera correction" and I have seen images with or without but I cant see any difference at all

Also I have never use this and never miss it.

    So what is it?

    Thanks

When the camera is not at the same level as the focus point, you will get vertical perspective as well (besides horizontal perspective)
In real photography this can be corrected using a technical camera, in this is mostly done when photographing large buildings with wide angle camera lenses.

        Hello n6,

        Voila, j'espère avoir pu t'aider

        A+

        Amicalement

hey guys, i know about camera correction, but i dont understand why guys are always saying to use some scripts to correct it... why is necessary to use something to correct this effect if the simple fact of you let your target and the source of camera at the same line already avoid it?

                hi silver,

take a look at this pics:

if you are standing near of a high building and set the target as high as the cam itself, you won't see anthing of the rooftop.
if you now look up you will see the top of the object,
but the vertical lines are distorted by the perspective.
to correct this a simple script (technical camera) comes in handy.

                hope you got it! =)

gosh deneb!!! so many time i trying to get it , but finally now i understand looking for yours images, what i usually did to avvoid it, was be very distant from the building and use blowup to render without distortion, but indeed sometimes we need to stand near it. Please, can you tell me where could i found the script?

                  thanks bud

                    sure, just follow this link:

                    http://mypage.bluewin.ch/dpics/TechnicalCamera.mse

place the script-file in the the folder below:

                    X:/3dsmax5/scripts/startup

create a camera and give it the technical cam modifier.

                        Just out of curiosity...

I've seen this over and over in photo books and here on the forum but I still wonder where the idea came from. I know architects like to have a very structured way of seeing things but is it that they can't see past perspective? Why and who was the first to ask for this in architectural photos?

I personally like the dramatic effect of perspective

I don't know when it was first used but I believe it was quite early in the evolution of photography. I imagine it came about to closer realize what we actually see with our eyes, thankfully buildings don't look like they are falling backwards when we view them. That's not to say say that camera distortion cannot be used to good effect.
