I believe it has to do with your fog color settings...

The color of your glass is a combination of diffuse, refract and fog color. For very fast and good results, use black diffuse, pure white refract and use a color for the fog. Then adjust the fog multiplier to get the desired effect. The blobs in the post you linked to were made this way. You also need to turn on reflections of course and use fresnel or a falloff map in the reflection slot.

I experienced that glass in vray looks much nicer if you turn
"reflect on backside" on. It produces nice internal reflections.

Try the glass material in this collection: http://vray.info/materialbeta.asp
Play with the absorption color and amount to vary the coloring.

Hey egz, I tried downloading your materials for Vray and evertime I try to use them Viz crashes. I am using Viz4 and Vray advanced. should your matrials work with Viz4 or just MAX? (I am assuming you created them with max) Your example posts with this material look great BTW. :P
