Personally I'm a big fan of Onyxtree, use 'm all the time.

But if you have loads of money Easynat is much better looking and easier to work with.

natfx does look good, but you cant make your own trees. which is useless. you have to buy ones you need. All you can change is the age, and seed.
We use onyx tree, and render in passes.

Although bionatics easynat or natfx look a lot better than onyx i found it harder to use in real life projects. The 2D and Hybrid versions of the natfx trees are no good to use in close-up shots and the 3D is too heavy on geometry. For a similar tree i was getting 74.000 faces in onyx tree and 850.000 faces in easynat!!!

I've tested both and decided to go with onyx. The only problem is that when you insert more than one onyx tree in a scene the polygon count goes off the roof and the scene becomes too "heavy" to render.

unknown: do you render the shadows in passes too?
