  • VRayHDRI Sampling

I couldn't find any reference to this anywhere so apologies if it has already been covered.

I'm trying to optimise the memory footprint of the scene. I have discovered the joys of tiled EXR maps loaded with the vrayHDRI map which has made a huge difference.

I was going to search for memory heavy "summed area" filtered textures, but having converted all bitmap maps to vrayHDRI maps, there is no longer this option.... which made me think, what should I know about how the vrayHDRI maps are filtered?

Does the vrayHDRI not apply filtering (ie like the normal bitmap texture with filtering set to 'none')?

    Thanks!
    Many Thanks

the float images have their own filtering options, you can see this in the hdr loader. Some of them produce quite nice / sharp result, of course for the higher memory/render time. But really worth it.

      Ah brilliant, thanks.
Thought I was going crazy not seeing a 'filtering' option until I came across the fact it has been renamed 'Interpolation'
      Thanks!
