i am re-rendering scenes originally created in max5 with lots of raytraced mat's.
can v-ray handel this or will it ultimately crash or continue to render very strange blips and artifacts in my animations?

It will probably ultimately crash or continue to render very strange blips and artifacts in your animations. You can try rendering with Raytrace disabled... Are they actually raytrace mats or just standard mats with raytrace reflections? If it is the later try http://andrasonodi.van.hu/ Andras has written a script to replace raytrace and reflection maps with a vraymap. Hope it helps

i think i misunderstand the qeustion........i thought "alot of raytrace mtl " means lots of reflecting/refracting mtl.....
