New to 2.0 and couldn't find anything in the help file at Spot3D. The native versions give close to real-time feedback as you tweak the parameters, but not the V-Ray version. Any hints?

It seems that V-Ray Exposure Control settings are not take into account from the "Render Preview" option.
We will make a note about it.
Unfortunately our documentation about this feature is not complete yet.

Unfortunately due to the way this feature is implemented in 3ds Max on the one side, and in V-Ray on the other, it is not possible to get it working correctly with the preview window. We tried a while ago, but we had to give it up.
