Vray Scene Converter

Hi
I have a massive Sketchup model sent to me, with hundreds of Palm trees and other foliage.
To replace these would be the obvious with itrees and proxies, but the viewport refresh is so slow due to the poly count it would take longer to do.

So converting the them to vray scene and ref'ing them back in would seem the next move.

Is there any other option that I could use?

Patience of a saint comes to mind.

assuming the trees are components in the sketchup model, you could edit the component and hide the tree and draw a box in its place. Then back in max use the object replacer script to swap all the boxes for vrayproxies. I did this recently on a project and it worked a charm.
