  • Displacement problem

I'm trying to apply a vray displacement to a wall of a building leaving the other walls untouched but when I use mesh select and then apply the displacement all the sides of the building seperate, which is very odd. Can anyone tell what I'm doing wrong?

    yo,

i had the same problem. I solved like this:

Box or wall -> convert to poly -> select the poly you want to displace -> build a new material with your displacement map in displace slot and apply it to the selected poly -> select the poly with "poly select" modifier and apply an UVW Map -> and a vrayDispMod -> select "3D Mapping" and "use object mtl"

thats it, hope i could help.

All you need to do is tick tight bounds

      Thats it

if this only would be true.

i have a simple box with a 1024x1024 pixel displacement map on it.
have tried every setting and advice i read here, tight bounds, keep continuity, chamfer the edges, put a meshsmooth on it, disabled max displacement but the faces still detach on parts of the object.

          hmmm very very weird.

Can you post a max file of the scene and a screenshot of the problem so we can try to fix it for you.
