  • IR & Distance threshold (Dist thresh) ?

I am trying to render a huge exterior scene with hundreds of buildings, and wide open space.

I am using IR & LC... and the IR calculation takes forever.
The only official documentation about the distance threshold I found says this:
"higher values place more samples in places where objects are close to each other"

does it mean a value from 1 would be an overkill, right ?

Have you tried LC & brute force??? This may be a quicker option if you keep the BF samples low [8-16]

do you mean LC for the primary and BF for the secondary ?

        no...actually the other way
LC secondary & BF for primary

I use that setup for most of my externals that have a LOT of objects/geometry
        Hope this helps

yeah.. tried that too.. was just slower... what are you doing if you have issues with objects far back in the distance... IR issues.. so you get lot's of grain and noise jumping .... just appears of course on small and fine detailed geometry in the distance.. like trees, leafs and finer geometry.
