Is the VRaySoftBox material optimised to run faster than using regular EXR's or HDRI's? Typically scenes render slower if using textures on lights, I hoped VRaySoftBox would be a solution for this.

You'll have to test it; I have not timed the performance. I doubt that there will be much of a difference though. The slowness doesn't come from the texture so much, but from the different sampling algorithm for lights.

With my testing it was as fast or faster. Might depend on the res of your image though. Anyway, it was more about fine control than speed.Comment
