Might be an idea to combine the forums that are not software specific. Like (maybe) announcements, take 5, render theory and maybe even image uploads (does it matter what software made an image?)

Yes, I've thought about it too, but I don't know how complicated it would be... I will ask.

why not take the permission out for all the users?....I would like to see what is going on galleries (SU, Rhino) and I can not see the images there.

Yeah, been saying this too for a while. It could be enticing people to purchase vray for sketchup/maya/etc, but we can't see any of the work going on there...

is Rhino a plugin for MAX?

No, it's a standalone piece of software, along similar lines as max. Used a fair bit by architecture students (in conjunction with a plugin called "grasshopper", for parametric design) and product designers I believe.

You should be able to see the Maya forum I think, no? If not, we'll see what can be done about it.

Sadly since we moved the old ASGVis forums here, they are quite silent and users prefer other sites to discuss their work, so unfortunately there is not much to see there. The beta forums are active, but they are closed anyways.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

That was kinda why I suggested amalgamating some of the forums to try and keep them active

Any reason Max users can't see the work Rhino users and Sketchup users are doing? Just curious.

I have to agree this forum seems rather split up. I'm a little baffled by the permissions too. I learn lots about vray from the max and maya forums, and it seems it would benefit everyone to be able to better pool knowledge and contribute. I do realize there are many program specific questions that come up, so it may be hard to separate what is a platform specific question from a general vray related one. My understanding is that one of the goals of development here is to have the same vray features available across the various 3D platforms, and hopefully, these generally should operate in similar ways. Seems that better integrating the forums would help the users share knowledge, plus provide more useful feedback with the developers. (people aren't asking the same questions across many different sub-forums.)

Hm, to be honest I was under the impression that you could already read everything in any part of the forum. So it's good that you brought it up I will check with the forum admin to see how the permissions are set up.

                      Best regards,

I can read them but I can't open the attachments.

Bingo. I can read what Sketchup users do, but not see anything they attach.

Hey Vlado, if you are planning on making any changes to the forums in the future would be good to have a better search engine. I think the one that is currently available is not that useful

We might try to integrate a Google search, but other than that, we are limited to what we have in vbulletin.
