    A thought:

If I use a pre-calculated saved solution to render an animation, would I be able to animate (for example, spin) a ceiling fan as long as it has a highly reflective, chrome-like finish?

My logic is that the majority of the 'look' of the chrome ceiling fan would be from what it reflects - the CG environment which has been fully calculated using GI. Raytraced reflections are calculated at the time of the actual render, so GI would not be an issue with it.

    What do you think?

mmm ....yes it should work, you may get some artifacts on it but you probably wont see them .... have you done any test's ?

I'm looking into it now - I'll let you know what happens. The problem, as always, is that tests of gi/animation take soooooo long to do!

Currently I have done pre-calcs with the fan.
