  • Distributed Rendering - render clients CPU priority

    Hello,
is there a way to remotely set the DR clients process priority to lower than normal or idle?

There is a option called "Low Thread Priority" in Vray System Tab - but unfortunately it affects only workstation machine - slave machines do not take it into account.

You can set the "affinity" to use less cores for a specific process on you rendernodes.

There used to be a script one placed in each rendernode's \scripts\startup\ forlder that made max in slave mode run in low priority.
No idea if it still works or where to find it. The script affected both backburner jobs and vray DR. Great for ninja-rendering on peoples workstations if one has no dedicated farm

Another approach will be to enable the Low thread priority option in the System roll-out > Save a Preset for the System options and save it. V-Ray will generate a vray.cjg file where one of the parameter will be "system_lowThreadPriority".
You can change that parameter to 0, save and copy this file to the nodes. When a DR job is executed the nodes will read the preset that you have given them.
          Best regards,
