  • How to properly composite the SSS Render Element?

I'm able to break apart my render elements and put them back together again with absolutely no difference from the original beauty render - all except for where there is a SSS mtl in my scene.

I've tried Adding the SSS Render element in my comp, but there is a slight difference around the edge of my object with the SSS material applied, so I'm wondering if there's something special I have to do to get it to match my beauty render exactly.

Take a look at the included images for an example. Thanks!
Also, here is the rendered EXR if anyone wants to try it themselves: http://www.cggallery.com/temp/vray_renderElements.exr

Hey Vlado and Tashko, thanks for the quick responses.

I was able to narrow down what seems to be causing the problem - but I'm not sure how to fix it:
The problem seems to only occur when 'Trace Reflections' in enabled in the SSS2 Material's specular section.
If I disable trace reflections and re-render, the SSS pass composites just fine and there is no difference between my beauty and comp.

I've confirmed the same behavior across VRay for Max AND Maya.

Here's my scene files, exrs, and nuke comp so you can see for yourselves:

Please take a look and let me know if there's something I can do.
          Thanks!

It seems that the composition is a little bit darker than the beauty pass. The SSS render element is affected when the specular amount (for the SSS2 shader) is increased, which makes some differences between both images in the object (SSS) brightness.
I will send this case to the developers for further investigation.
Thank you for your help with this issue.

Unfortunately this bug is not fixed yet and it persist in 3.0 version as well.
We'll update this thread when we have a solution about it.
