yeah......sounds like who ever did the comparasing was leaning a bit TOO MUCH towards renderman......according to him even brazil's GI is faster then vrays........

and we all know the truth on that one!

ummm. under the "closer look at each individual renderer" he doesnt even mention vray. If in the top bar of that page thats the guys face then he looks like a kid.
and if you go look at his website. for a guy who is suck an expert you would think he would be an awsome artist and work for ILM or some high end company. but looking at his work its obvious he doesnt

Yes, the article is slightly, should I say, misleading? The fact that he doesnĀ“t mention Vray in his final words and that he left out the displacement option (he most likely only went through the Render settings and didndĀ“t investigate the modifiers any closer) struck me most.
Someone should tell him heĀ“s talking crap.

this guy spent a lot of time writing BS here......this BS is strongly incline to renderman and mental ray......it's biased and the information being said is invalid......... ......it looks like vray is like the slowest and worst renderer in the group.....

i have tested vray and brazil, in my opinion brazil wins in exteriors and materials, but vray can archieve the same resulst very easy ,exept in glass and 3S vray will be the best for me if they fix those materials.

The explanation to the comparison chart says: "A blank indicates that insufficient data was available to conclude a fair assessment. A half-star means the feature is known to be not supported at all."

First of all, if someone isn't willing to do the research, then maybe doing a comparison article like this is not a good idea. Second of all, without reading the chart explanation it looks like the features with no stars are unavailable, while the features that are really unavailable look like they are there, but really really bad.

Don't jump to conclusions about how great or poor a renderer is that you're testing until you've properly learned how to use it

3D its simply a hobby for me, and of course I dont work for ILM and definitively I have no idea about rendering algorithms, but I know something, that guy dont know anything about Prman, because he doesnt know nothing about the renderman interface.

Ive seen this discussion often and the only thing that I have to say is that prman is not an "artist oriented" software.

Its useles discuss about the utility of a production oriented render engine and compare it with rendering systems focused on little companies or 3d artists.

In my free time i like to study the renderman interface, and I put in practice it by making teapots in houdini and render it with prman... its stupid i know.

Sorry for my english, EspaƱa OLE! :P

                              Hi.

I have got a lot of scenes with program shaders (DarkTrees ), as Displacement shaders , and I can tell (no offence ) , that in this specific task Final Render stage 1 , is alot faster , and render it most accuratly .
But in others than that type Displacement shaders , v-ray is 3 times fater .

My 5 cents as a User of both .
